Cornwall Tourism Award for Mother Ivey's Bay!
The customers and staff of Mother Ivey's Bay Caravan Park were toasting one of their number on 16th October 2008, when Wendy Redford-James won the top award for Outstanding Customer Service. Wendy, who is head gardener and housekeeping supervisor at Mother Ivey's Bay Caravan Park, is very popular with customers and staff alike for her ever-present smile and the warm welcome she gives to everyone who arrives. The result was kept secret, right until the announcement at the Tourism Awards dinner. Wendy (left) received the award from well-known comedienne Ruby Wax, who had earlier had the audience in stitches with her take on holidaying in Cornwall, and Stella Hooper of Newquay for Excellence Training, who sponsored the award. Wendy was flabbergasted by the award, which was recommended by her boss, Patrick Langmaid. Her attitude has been typically modest. "I just feel fantastic," she said.
